AVS codes
Last updated: April 17, 2024
Address Verification Service (AVS) is a fraud prevention tool used to verify that the customer performing a payment is genuine.
It does this by performing an AVS check, which compares the billing address provided by the customer during checkout with the address associated with the payment card.
The result of an AVS check is conveyed to you through AVS codes. AVS codes describe whether there was a full match, a partial match, or a mismatch.
The following table outlines the AVS codes used by Checkout.com and their definitions.
