Go further with PrestaShop

There are a number of ways you can extend your PrestaShop integration so that it suits all of your business needs.

In this guide, you'll find how to:

Add more payment methods

In order to start accepting an alternative payment method, we first need to enable it on your account. Please contact your Customer Success manager or our Sales team to get started.

We currently support the following payment methods on PrestaShop:

Enable alternative payments

  1. Log in to your PrestaShop admin dashboard, and go to Modules > Modules Manager.
  2. Find the Checkout.com plugin, click Configure and go to Alternative payments.
  3. Select the payment methods you want to support.

  4. Click Save.

Google Pay

  1. Log in to your PrestaShop admin dashboard, and go to Modules > Modules Manager.
  2. Find the Checkout.com plugin, click Configure and go to Google Pay.
  3. Set Enable Google Pay to Yes.
  4. Enter a Payment Option Title (e.g., Pay by Google Pay with Checkout.com). This is the name of the payment option that will be displayed to the customer.
  5. Enter your Merchant ID. You can find this in your Google payments profile.
  6. Click Save.

Enable 3D Secure payments

  1. Log in to your PrestaShop admin dashboard, and go to Modules > Modules Manager.
  2. Find the Checkout.com plugin, click Configure and go to Card payments.
  3. Set Use 3D Secure to Yes.
  4. Next, select whether or not you want to Attempt non-3D Secure transactions. If you select Yes, any cards that do not support 3DS will go through without a 3DS check. If you select No, cards that do no support 3DS will be blocked.
  5. Click Save.

Card payment options

Manually capture payments

  1. Log in to your PrestaShop admin dashboard, and go to Modules > Modules Manager.
  2. Find the Checkout.com plugin, and click Configure.
  3. Set Payment Action to Authorize. This will only authorize the charge; you will now have to manually capture the payment yourself.
  4. Click Save.

Delay payment capture

  1. Log in to your PrestaShop admin dashboard, and go to Modules > Modules Manager.
  2. Find the Checkout.com plugin, and click Configure.
  3. Make sure you've set Payment Action to Authorize + Capture.
  4. Specify the Capture Time. By default, this is blank, meaning the charge will be authorized and captured at the same time. If you want to delay the payment's capture, you can set the period of delay (in hours) here (e.g., 1 = payment captured after one hour; 1.5 = payment captured after one hour and 30 minutes).
  5. Click Save.

Enable dynamic descriptor

This is an extra field that you can send to the issuer, appearing on the customer's bank statement as an additional description of the payment.

  1. Log in to your PrestaShop admin dashboard, and go to Modules > Modules Manager.
  2. Find the Checkout.com plugin, and click Configure.
  3. Set Enable Dynamic Descriptor to Yes.
  4. Specify your Descriptor Name. This is the first line of the descriptor, usually your merchant name.
  5. Specify your Descriptor City. This is the second line of the descriptor, usually the city of your merchant address.
  6. Click Save.

Enable saved cards

This setting allows your customers to save their cards for future payments. They can then use the same card on your website without re-entering the details.

  1. Log in to your PrestaShop admin dashboard, and go to Modules > Modules Manager.
  2. Find the Checkout.com plugin, click Configure and go to Card payments.
  3. Set Save Card Option to Yes.
  4. Click Save.

Enable Mada BIN check

Mada is a local card scheme in Saudi Arabia. When enabled, we check the card's BIN to see if the customer is using a Mada card, and then apply the necessary configuration before sending the payment request.

Take a look at our Mada guide to find out more.

  1. Log in to your PrestaShop admin dashboard, and go to Modules > Modules Manager.
  2. Find the Checkout.com plugin, click Configure and go to Card payments.
  3. Set Enable MADA BIN Check to Yes.
  4. Click Save.

Order statuses

These settings allow you edit the order statuses in line with the status of the payment. But they are automatically set to PrestaShop's default values, so it's unlikely you will need to edit them.

To find these settings, log in to your PrestaShop admin dashboard, go to Modules > Modules Manager, find the Checkout.com plugin, click Configure and then scroll down.
